Tired and a bit meh...

Ugh it's monday and I feel like a bit of a zombie. Last night I had such a rough sleep and the wind outside made my old little house creak and moan like it too could get no rest.

So today calls for something a little soothing, this song is just so beautiful.

Vinyl on a lazy sunday afternoon...

So the weekend is coming to a close and as I relax at home my options for entertainment are: watch television or listen to vinyl records, today the winner is...vinyl.

Looking through my little vinyl collection I just can't go past one of my favourite albums Creedence Clearwater Revival. Right now I'm relaxed with wine in hand traveling back in time on a scratchy vintage tune!

Wake up to this...

There is nothing better then starting your day with the perfect song, it can set you up to be in a great mood for the rest of the day. I kid you not, when this song came on my iPod this morning the biggest smile came on my face and I just couldn't help but strut my stuff all the way to work. I had this vision of a street dance scene from some movie...

She turns the street corner on her way to work, as she turns she sees a stranger on the street looking down on their luck. She points to the stranger and sings...

"HEY, it's your thang.... do what you wanna do!"

The stranger nods in agreement as if to say "hell yeah it's my thing", they join forces and continue to dance down the street, collecting other dancers along the way.

It's your thing!

The Isley Brothers - It's your thing

Don't you just want to dance!

Break up listening...

So recently my boyfriend and I broke up and I've been feeling really down. Of course the first few days I pull out the saddest songs I can find on my playlist and play them until my ears bleed. One sad song in particular - Evening Kitchen by Band of Horses. I love this song because its just so damn sad and extremely beautiful.

Band of Horses - Evening Kitchen

I actually completely recommend buying Band of Horses new album - Infinite Arms
it's really good, just avoid listening to most of the songs after a break up!

Now it's so easy to put on sad songs and feel completely sorry for yourself, because as Elton said - sad songs say so much! Today however I've decided enough is enough, its time to choose a song that will drag me out of my funk and simply make me smile. No matter how good or bad a break up might be, sometimes you just want to sing...

Cee Lo Green - FUCK YOU

Hey it worked, I'm smiling! Funny song, funny video clip!
