Christmas Spirit...

Now I'm not the biggest fan of Christmas carols, and after spending too much time in shopping centers leading up to Christmas the allure of a good christmas carol is totally ruined for me in a matter of seconds. There is however one Christmas song that is just so cool and sexy that even the biggest grinch can't help but fall in love!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Groovy, hip...I dig it!

Today I have a tasty treat for anyone in the mood for a 60's brit/surf rock beat. Sydney band Deep Sea Arcade has managed to capture a sound from another time with their unique charm, try not to feel great while listening to these catchy tunes...

 It's a Gas!!!!!!

In the mood for gold...

Today my ears were drawn to a few golden hits from the 60's and when I went onto You Tube to find this first song I found such a great live performance by the legend that is Ray Charles! Enjoy...

Classic 90's sad song...

Tired and a bit meh today but I have a great tune from the 90's, it's a song I'm sure so many people can relate to - wanting someone who stuffed you around. You really know you shouldn't want to be with them anymore, but logic really doesn't mean a lot when you care about someone so much - foolish loyalty.

Friday fun...

Friday is here and in true friday style I need a cool tune to get me in the mood for a bit of fun. Can't go past this song, really cool beat and sound...makes me want to dance!

hungover...

So it was a such huge weekend for me starting with a friends farewell on friday night which ended with my friend and I at a local club dancing with a group of professional cage fighters - what the? Then I had to back up with an even bigger night on Saturday at my friends house warming party which ended in a 3am swim at nearby Bronte beach. Needless to say yesterday was tough, and today even tougher seeing I'm slugging away at work. Which brings me to my song of the day...

Kid Cudi - Pursuit Of Happiness ft. MGMT

Cause everyday would be a Friday
You could even speed on the highway"

Take me back...

Today I'm being transported back in time by the intricate vocal harmonies of folk rock supergroup Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Déjà Vu has to be one of my favourite albums, so easy to listen to on those days you just want to escape all your worries! Here's two of my favourite songs off the album...

Melbourne band Black Cab, this song has a great 70's retro feel...
Black Cab - Black Angel

And from the Blue Mountains indie band Cloud Control...

Cloud Control - There's Nothing In The Water We Can't Fight

Snap out of it...

Today I'm feeling a little lost and in desperate need of something to keep my spirits up so I don't drown in a bunch of depressing songs. Wilco to the rescue! This song is so cool and the happy-go-lucky melody always manages to bring a smile...

Wilco - Handshake Drugs

Today is the first day of summer and although it is raining and miserable I've got a few songs to keep me up beat and looking towards a brighter/sunnier tomorrow...or monday as the weather forecast would have it. Hope these tunes do it for you...whoever you are...is anybody out there? Enjoy.

Miike Snow - Animal

Little Red - Rock It

I just found an iTunes app that was made for me...

Introducing Moody

Moody allows you to listen to music based on you current mood, or the mood you'd like to be in. You tag your music based on color, the app has a spectrum of 16 different colors to classify your moods. From there, you can pick a combination of colors to create a dynamic playlist based on your mood.

This might put you in a good mood...... it's completely free.

I have just the tune...

It's raining again today and doesn't look like letting up anytime soon. Lucky I have a great tune to keep me going. This song has such an awesome beat to make you wanna move and Boy George's amazing vocals...even if your not the greatest fan of Boy George I don't see how you cannot like this song. I can't stop listening to it!

Mark Ronson - Somebody to Love Me (ft. Boy George and Miike Snow)

Tired and a bit meh...

Ugh it's monday and I feel like a bit of a zombie. Last night I had such a rough sleep and the wind outside made my old little house creak and moan like it too could get no rest.

So today calls for something a little soothing, this song is just so beautiful.

Beggar's Prayer by Emiliana Torrini

Vinyl on a lazy sunday afternoon...

So the weekend is coming to a close and as I relax at home my options for entertainment are: watch television or listen to vinyl records, today the winner is...vinyl.

Looking through my little vinyl collection I just can't go past one of my favourite albums Creedence Clearwater Revival. Right now I'm relaxed with wine in hand traveling back in time on a scratchy vintage tune!

Creedence Clearwater Revival - Fortunate Son

Wake up to this...

There is nothing better then starting your day with the perfect song, it can set you up to be in a great mood for the rest of the day. I kid you not, when this song came on my iPod this morning the biggest smile came on my face and I just couldn't help but strut my stuff all the way to work. I had this vision of a street dance scene from some movie...

She turns the street corner on her way to work, as she turns she sees a stranger on the street looking down on their luck. She points to the stranger and sings...

"HEY, it's your thang.... do what you wanna do!"

The stranger nods in agreement as if to say "hell yeah it's my thing", they join forces and continue to dance down the street, collecting other dancers along the way.

It's your thing!

The Isley Brothers - It's your thing

Don't you just want to dance!

Break up listening...

So recently my boyfriend and I broke up and I've been feeling really down. Of course the first few days I pull out the saddest songs I can find on my playlist and play them until my ears bleed. One sad song in particular - Evening Kitchen by Band of Horses. I love this song because its just so damn sad and extremely beautiful.

Band of Horses - Evening Kitchen

I actually completely recommend buying Band of Horses new album - Infinite Arms
it's really good, just avoid listening to most of the songs after a break up!

Now it's so easy to put on sad songs and feel completely sorry for yourself, because as Elton said - sad songs say so much! Today however I've decided enough is enough, its time to choose a song that will drag me out of my funk and simply make me smile. No matter how good or bad a break up might be, sometimes you just want to sing...

Cee Lo Green - FUCK YOU

Hey it worked, I'm smiling! Funny song, funny video clip!
